YD Camp 2020 COVID-19 Update

While normal YD Camp is still not going to be an option for 2020, the current regulations do enable us to offer some new programs that we’ve thought about in the past, but never have been able to do before!

Please be aware, there is a possibility that the requirements could change again, and either open up or close more options, so please keep this in mind, and try to keep your plans flexible. That being said, I am excited to share some new plans with you!

July 12–19. Livestream YD Camp. “Lord I Need You” is this week’s theme as Eugene Prewitt guides an exploration of Psalm 46 in Deep Bible Study Class and Nemy Antenor brings us inspiring Campfire messages. This online event will stream the Deep Bible Study Class and Campfire Program from the “Micro YD Camp Week 1” described below. In addition, you will face a unique YD Challenge each day to test your physical, mental, and spiritual muscle! Cost: Free.

July 12–19. Micro YD Camp Week 1. “Lord I Need You” is this week’s theme as Eugene Prewitt helps us explore Psalm 46 in Deep Bible Study Class and Nemy Antenor brings us inspiring Campfire messages. This isn’t YD Camp as usual, it’s “Micro YD”! Instead of taking one class all week long, you’ll take different classes on different days. Campers will be assigned to units or “cohorts”. These groups will stay together for most classes and activities. Just like regular YD Camp you’ll enjoy YD’s famous vegan cooking! We can only accept about 20 to 30 campers, and each camper must bring their own small tent to satisfy the county’s physical distancing requirements. We’re looking at a variety of activities and classes such as Swimming, Group Games, Canoeing, Woodworking, Literature Evangelism, Wilderness Survival, Child Evangelism, Literature Ministry, etc. Exact classes will be announced at a later date. Classes will be structured to comply with physical distancing mandates, and will occur outdoors. Campers will receive a simple non-invasive health screening upon arrival and every day at camp. Campers will not be required to wear a face covering unless they have to be in a situation where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Airport pickup/drop off is not offered; if a camper becomes sick at camp they must have a local family member or friend that can pick them up. Elements of this camp will be live-streamed for the benefit of those that are not able to attend. For ages 12–17. Cost: $350.

July 19–26. Micro YD Camp Week 2. This week we’ll “Walk In The Light” in a new and deeper way as we dig into 1 John 1. Expect fascinating stories and illustrations during Eugene Prewitt’s evening Campfire message. This isn’t YD Camp as usual, it’s “Micro YD”! Instead of taking one class all week long, you’ll take different classes on different days. Campers will be assigned to units or “cohorts”. August 3–6. Waldensian Wilderness Experience. History marks the bravery and faithfulness of the Waldenses: men, women, and children who stood as beacons of light amidst the darkness of ignorance and persecution. Trace the history of their flight to the Alps as you make your own way through mountainous strongholds in the Pacific Northwest. This experience is not for the faint of heart! You should expect to stretch your physical and spiritual limits. This four day/three night backpacking excursion will be led by Young Disciple staff. Maximum of 10 youth participants ages 14–18. Participants supply their own equipment. Cost: $160 per person (includes meals, permits, and camping fees). Exact location to be determined based on conditions.

August 10–14. Leadership Wilderness Experience. “Make your Bed” is the theme for this backpacking event. Gear up for a magnificent five days/four nights in the Pacific Northwest wilderness, while you not only strengthen your muscle, but test your readiness to step into the God-ordained role He has in store for you as a leader in your home, peer group, church, and the world beyond. This event will be led by Young Disciple staff. Maximum of 10 participants ages 16 to young adult. Participants supply their own equipment. Cost: $180 per person (includes meals, permits, and camping fees). Exact location to be determined based on conditions.

Due to space restrictions, we ask that applicants apply for only one of the above events. Upon acceptance, application deposits and payments already made will be automatically applied. Campers that have already been accepted do not need to fill out a new application, just complete the following form: Summer 2020 Registration Form
